This artwork incorporates soil and plant fragments as integral textures on the front side of the canvas, grounding the piece in a sense of earthiness and natural connection. Rather than viewing these materials as lifeless, I painted the flip side of the canvas by giving a foundation of layering soft colours bringing the canvas to life in a way that reveals the subtle beauty embedded within nature’s simplicity.
In this blending of organic and painted layers, the piece encourages a deeper look at the everyday materials surrounding us, suggesting that beauty is not always apparent at first glance but can be uncovered when we allow ourselves to see beyond the surface.
