Sherlee Choliluddin's Trees by Victoria Theatre, Singapore, 2024
In my continued journey down the path of painting trees energetically, I am also letting go of my need to sketch buildings perfectly, and to let go and let loose of my lines. Seemingly at the right moment, both paths merged synergistically into a loose, flowy, and energetic painting styles which combines, a level of unseriousness about painting outdoors, and yet capturing the essence of the scene. I also let go of having a detailed pre-sketching, but often choose to paint ‘a la prima’, letting my brushworks and the strength of watercolor shines. This is my era of letting it loose and not allowing myself to be too perfect.
